BEYOND~この曲ノカナタ

If you’re an AAA fan and an astute reader of this blog, you’ll notice that their most recent single hasn’t been mentioned at all. Of course, some people might excuse it because of the promotion of the boys-only mini-album around the same time. Others might bring up that I was on a hiatus (if unannounced) from my ramblings.

For the past month and a half, that most recent single didn’t exist for me. In fact, have a quote from a forum conversation over AAA’s periods for me.

AAA 2005-October 2006 = growing into it. (Let us never bring back Hallelujah’s cornrows, Nissy.)
AAA November 2006-June 2007 = smoking hot and working the “idol” concept.
AAA July 2007-September 2007 = duck-ing. (As in, being like a duck. Not ducking under something. Though they did a lot of that too.)
AAA October 2007-January 2008 = experimental.
AAA February 2008-June 2008 = My fanhood is ashamed.

And that last line? Can all be blamed on BEYOND~カラダノカナタ [BEYOND~KARADA NO KANATA].

The post that was supposed to go somewhere but didn’t.

So SuuDesu/Sakura RABU…, trailing over to my tiny little blog somehow some way, left a not entirely unwarranted comment on my About page. For those of you too lazy to click, here it is:

I’m a little curious, if you’re american/chinese, then how come you don’t write anything (seemingly) about C-music? Not that it’s required just ’cause you’re half chinese or anything, I just happen to like both japanese and chinese music. And there are some pretty chinese equivalents to the johnny boys as well! ^-^ Personally, I think 吳吉尊 is cute ^^

So, first a couple of nonsensical comments that you all could really do without. I’m seemingly full-blooded Chinese (the jury’s out on that one because I looked mixed, and to be honest I don’t know my Asian-looking father’s ethnicity.), though my friends have joked that I could be half-Japanese, half-Chinese. (Based on the half-J/C people I do know, I can say I’d much rather not.) I don’t deny that I do find some Chinese males attractive – generally my taste in males runs on the East Asian side of the spectrum anyways - but looks aren’t the only reason I have grown to adore Johnny’s. (Maybe a third of the time I still think Arashi looks pretty – that is, pretty ugly. Another third they look plain, and the final third is just pretty. And when I first started knowing of them, I thought they were all plain.) Lastly, I had to look up 吳吉尊 – or for your convenience, Wu Zun of the Chinese boyband Fahrenheit. The looks of any person depends on many details, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and Wu Zun tends to look on the plainer side in my opinion. Though his profile picture on their official Japanese site gets a pass from me, and that’s what we’ll head into now.

“愛するより飛ぶ”? Not here, at least.

Arashi on a roof. Again, guys? We can\'t keep calling the firement.

I want to say that I am still, 100%, an Arashi fan.

I think, in all likelihood, I probably am.

It still doesn’t mean One Love is going to get it easy from me.

Because this just creeped me out.

According to their official blog, MAAKII (born Onaga Maki) of HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR got married to DREAMS COME TRUE’s Nakamura Masato and so she’ll be leaving the band by the end of 2008.

This isn’t an official breakup announcement, of course, and HaiKara is supposedly going to continue their activities – but without Maki, they’re pretty much Anti-Nobunaga again, so it’s hard for me to think of them as HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR anymore. And as for Maki – congrats if you’re happy enough with the guy to marry him, but my mind, personally, is reeling from this. Nakamura turns 50 this year, Maki turns 21 next month. Nakamura also started DREAMS COME TRUE the year after Maki (and I) was born. Before you bring it up – it’s almost twice the age difference between Hikki and her ex-husband. The difference between Odagiri Joe and Kashii Yu is also only 11 years. Those cases are sort of understandable, but this borders on cradle-robbing. Then again, the age difference is pretty jarring because she was born in the same year I was. (And I just keep giving, you Internet stalkers.)

Then there’s the fact that this announcement came on the heels of Nakanomori BAND’s disbandment – what band that debuted in 2005 is next, UVERworld?

Best of luck to both HaMC and Maki, congrats to Nakamura on getting what’s practically a schoolgirl wife at his age. I’ll be waiting for UVER’s announcement.
